World Kindness Day was started in 1998 and is observed in several countries. As wonderful as it would be for everyone to donate more money or items on this day or volunteer longer, I’ve noticed that we should work harder to do something else that is also extremely important and doesn’t take any extra time or money. We can listen more.
It’s so easy to use stereotypes to decide if we’ll have something in common with someone. But, everyone has a unique story and all of our stories matter. Let’s use this World Kindness Day to start a new commitment to actually listening to people’s stories instead of just assuming what their stories are. Truly listening to someone is simple but not always easy. We don’t have to always agree with each other. We just need to listen.
Listening won’t cost us anything, we’ll probably learn something, and being heard may change someone’s day, or even, life.
Stay amazing.
With love,
Latoinette
