What I Learned in 2020

2020 is finally over. I understand that the year on the calendar doesn’t actually make a difference when it comes to what will or won’t happen. Still, it’s nice to have the chance to sort of reset with a fresh start.

With that said, there are two things I learned this year because of everything that happened that I need to remember in 2021.

  1. Be proactive. The chaos and tragedy that we saw inspired some people to be more thoughtful and notice others more. My goal for 2021 is to be more thoughtful and notice others before a tragedy happens. I definitely have causes that are important to me that, honestly, I don’t spend nearly enough time trying to support or help. This year, I need to focus on helping people even if the news isn’t talking about them.
  2. “Create more than I consume.” I heard this phrase in a couple of places this year, and as the year went on, I understood how important this is. When I get anxious or restless, I tend to turn to YouTube videos or games on my phone. As someone who adores creating my own projects, though, I can’t spend more time consuming other people’s than I do making my own. This also relates to the first lesson I learned: If I spend one hour watching YouTube videos, how many have I spent making videos that I hope will help other people?

If nothing else, 2020 gave us a lot of opportunities to learn about ourselves and other people.

Please share what you learned this year.

Happy new year.

Stay amazing.

With love,
